Seventeen members of Yale's Global Alumni Leadership Exchange (YaleGALE) came to EHU to lead a workshop on building alumni networks. The workshop, hosted on EHU's campus in Vilnius, attracted some 80 participants from local and regional higher education institutions and non-governmental organizations.
Participants said they were inspired by the presentations and interactive discussions. The workshop covered a range of topics, including building a culture of volunteering, effective use of social media, and cultivating alumni connections, philanthropy, and alumni leadership. Members of the Association of Yale Alumni (AYA) shared elements of Yale University’s centuries-old tradition of alumni engagement.
Participants agreed that the workshop provided a good opportunity to share information and ideas. Many participants indicated that a breakout session on the role of social media was particularly useful.
Among participants of the workshop were representatives of the American University of Central Asia (Kyrgyz Republic), the Higher School of Economics (Russia), the Global Belarusian Leaders Initiative Group, the Vilnius Academy of Art, ISM University of Management and Economics, Vilnius University, LCC International University, and other Lithuanian higher education institutions, as well as representatives of US-LT Alumni, Belarusian Human Rights House, Lithuania's Ministry of Science and Education, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
EHU would like to thank the Yale alumni delegation for leading the workshop, which will help advance alumni engagement in the region.
