Members of the European Humanities University’s (EHU) PhD Studies Committee have awarded a Friends of EHU Scholarship to philosophy PhD student Katsiaryna Yancheuskaya. The Scholarship was raised at a private event in London hosted by Friends of EHU Board Member Laura Hanning Scarborough and her husband Tom Hanning Scarborough.
The recipient was selected based on academic performance, research achievements and participation in EHU community activities. In 2011 EHU launched a doctoral program in philosophy in partnership with Vytautas Magnus University (Kaunas) and the Lithuanian Culture Research Institute (Vilnius).
Addressing participants at the official award ceremony, EHU Professor Emeritus and Chairman of the Senate Ryhor Miniankou expressed deep gratitude to the Friends group for their support and the hope for future opportunities to support other outstanding students. Philosophy Professor Tatiana Shchyttsova, who is a member of EHU’s PhD Studies Committee, said “we are happy that now we have not only Friends of EHU, but also friends of philosophy at EHU.”
“I want to say a big thank you to the Friends of EHU for such generous and timely support, which will allow me to buy books and take part in scientific conferences to develop my dissertation project in the field of philosophy and medicine and strengthen its practical implications,” said the Friends of EHU Scholarship recipient Katsiaryna Yancheuskaya.
EHU thanks the Friends of EHU for their generosity and support. Friends of EHU is an international charitable organization registered in the United States that unites individuals who wish to promote the values of liberal education and academic freedom in Belarus and the region.
