Official statement concerning the tragic accident of March 25 in Antakalnis eldership of Vilnius

Leadership of the European Humanities University (EHU) got to know about the tragic event that took place on March 25. Leadership expresses condolences the family of stuntman Karolis Jančius on his tragic death after unfortunate accident.

On March 25 at 7 pm in the Šilo bridge area of the Antakalnis eldership of Vilnius, a filming that an EHU “Media and Communication” student was intending to submit as part of his Bachelor’s thesis was undertaken, during filming stuntman was supposed to perform open flame scene. This included preparing the stunt and assuring that safety precautions were taken. Unfortunately any attempts to extinguish open flame failed.

Karolis was immediately rushed to the hospital by ambulance and placed in critical care. In the evening of March 30, Karolis passed away from his injuries.

The community of faculty, students, staff and Alumni of EHU extends their prayers and condolences to Karolis’ entire family at this moment of such profound loss.

Counseling and psychological assistance has been provided to a number of persons who were in attendance.

EHU Rector has ordered that there be an investigation of the circumstances surrounding this tragedy and undertaken immediately.
