The In-Between program consists of two seasons and 24 episodes. Season 1 is hosted by Aliaksandra Ihnatovich, LitPro project director, while Season 2's host is Volha Babaika, a fourth-year student at the EHU. The program was produced by the EHU’s Media Department faculty members Andrei Gornykh and Dzmitry Karenka. Other EHU faculty, as well as professionals from Belarus, Lithuania, and Russia, acted as experts in the program.
Aliaksandra Ihnatovich, the LitPro project director and In-Between Season 1 anchor, said that despite very hard work she greatly enjoyed the experience. “At first, it all seemed an absolutely crazy idea to film the bulk of the program within a very short period of time. Two to three guests in the studio during the day, various topics, different languages--ten hours of my life a day, when the main thing was not to forget which camera I should look at. But when my season as an anchor was over, instead of the expected relief I asked myself: is that all there is to it? Because, as it turned out, the daily rendezvous with the camera's eye has become the sweetest experience and... the utmost fun too.”
The In-Between program was created as part of the Mediahub project supported by IREX Europe and BBC Media Action, and all reports were made by EHU students as part of the BBC training project implemented at Mediahub from 2010 through 2012. Mediahub, as one of the most advanced university labs in Europe, offers a wide range of opportunities to students and faculty of the EHU’s Media and Communication program.
Andrei Slavinski, a fourth-year student of Visual and Cultural Studies at the EHU, served as the In-Between cameraman. He stresses the important experience gained during the project implementation: “Initially, during the preparation to the production of the program, I was really pessimistic about the idea to film twenty-four, twenty-minute episodes, and--seemingly even more absurd--80 reports for them. Unattainable as that goal may have seemed, within three months we were able to produce the necessary reports and organize a full-fledged television ‘conveyor-belt’ process. As a result, not only did we have a finished product, but we gained tons of experience in managing the entire project, as well as learning the program production process itself.”
