EHU faculty member Andrei Liankevich, who teaches a course on photography and photo journalism, has published a new photo album featuring young Belarusian photographers. BY NOW. Contemporary Photography from Belarus includes photographs by Liankevich as well as recent EHU graduate Olga Sasnouskaya (MA Cultural Studies, 2013) and student Pavel Kirpikau (Cultural Studies).
The book is published by Kehrer Heidelberg Berlin, with the support of the Goethe-Institut in Minsk. It will be presented at the world’s largest publishers’ book fair in Frankfurt, Germany. Photos from the album will be featured in exhibitions in Berlin and Frankfurt later this year.
The photographs reflect themes that include the idea of the motherland, people in everyday life, social documentary, memories of World War II and the Nazi occupation, as well as experimental photography.
Liankevich and another EHU faculty member, Svetlana Poleschuk, publish the contemporary photography journal Volume, which features photographs by students taken in Belarus and in Lithuania.
