European Humanities University (EHU) has launched its first Annual Fund Appeal, a campaign seeking to help Belarusian students gain the benefits of an EHU education. With the skills, confidence, and experience they gain, EHU graduates are helping move Belarus in the direction of greater openness and European integration.
During the campaign, companies and private individuals are being asked to contribute to the EHU Annual Fund that will support students and faculty and help meet significant needs of the University. This List of Giving Opportunities outlines areas of need. Scholarships are particularly critical. Even EHU’s very reasonable tuition is a barrier for many students, especially given the devaluation of the Belarusian currency.
The goal of the Annual Fund Appeal is to raise EUR 30,000 from friends and benefactors in Europe and the United States.
“Events in Ukraine, which have brought attention and anxiety to the region, highlight the need for just the sort of ‘education in freedom’ that EHU offers. EHU students learn in interactive classrooms and are not only allowed but encouraged to express their opinions freely and take personal responsibility for their lives and their future as well as the future of their country,” says EHU Alumni Chair of the Annual Fund and Member of EHU’s Governing Board Artiom Anisimov (LL.B, International Law 2009).
Since its founding in Minsk in 1992, EHU has provided an education to over 2,200 graduates. This was made possible thanks to the generosity of donors. EHU provides students with opportunities outside of the classroom as well, such as the Summer Comparative Law Program, the Political Fall Academy in Germany, ERASMUS+ and Campus Europae international exchanges with other universities throughout Europe, and practical communications training through Mediahub, EHU's multimedia production studio.
We are pleased to share our new video “Education in Freedom” describing what freedom means to EHU’s students and alumni.
